Ball Valves Leak Sealing

If standard grease injection fails to achieve a seal, Furmanite can provide a variety of alternative materials to inject

It may be necessary or desirable to remove the non-return valves, by-pass them (by drilling a new passage) or drill a completely new injection point

Any grease, previously injected, must be flushed out with solvent, prior to injecting Furmanite compound.

Ball Valves Leak Sealing

A unique solution to a common problem

The primary seals in a high pressure ball valve are mounted in a “seal ring”

This seal ring is equipped with peripheral seals which cause the line pressure to energize the primary seals against the ball

Valve manufacturers provide grease injection ports. When grease is injected:

The additional pressure helps to seat the primary seal
The grease can fill minor surface imperfections in the ball and seal

However, the valves can still leak.
