Enclosure Clamp

Enclosure Clamp for Flanged 36” 180° Mitred Bend

Flange gap restraints were required at each end due to the out-of-balance pressure loads

Finite Element Analysis was used to check the pressure integrity of the clamp and that the joint faces would not part under load

Static Elastomeric seals were used – no seal injection was required

Once installation was complete, the clamp was leak tested prior to being filled with a hard setting resin.

Wall thickness checks had detected severe internal corrosion (not yet through wall) in the mitred return

Clamp was designed for 20 bar pressure

Overall dimensions of 4.3 x 2.5 x 1.5 meters (169 x 98 x 59 inches) and weight of 6 tonnes (13200 lbs)

Clamp had to be fabricated and machined in 6 parts and assembled on site
