Folding Head Line Stops are a cost effective method of stopping the flow in low and medium pressure piping systems.  Folding Head Line Stops are performed on larger diameter pipe systems from 12″ – 96″ diameter.  Standard pressure ratings on a Folding Head Line Stops are 150 PSI.  Larger pipe sizes and higher pressure are available on special application.

Folding Head Line Stops are commonly to stop flow on potable water transmission and distribution pipe, waste water/sewer force mains (with or without bypass), and natural gas distribution pipeline systems operating at low or medium pressures.  Folding Heads are used to stop flow on Prestressed Concrete Cylider Pipe because making full sized hot taps is not practical and this eliminates other Line Stop technology.

Besides cost savings, Folding Head equipment is also lighter than most traditional Line Stop methods which make this an ideal solution when rigging or pipe support is a concern.  As with all line stop field service applications, proper planning is the key to success in the field.

Folding Head Line Stop Advantages

Furmanite Folding Head Line Stop services offer many advantages in the field.  Other methods of Line Stops require either a full size or larger than full size hot tap prior to the installment of the Line Plugging Head.  With a Folding Head Line Stop, a reduced size hot tap is used.  Utilizing a smaller hot tap and reduced branch fitting can provide a substancial material cost reduction.  Additionally, Folding Head Line Stop equipment is lighter which makes both rigging and pipe support easier in field.
