To ease your worries and lighten your load, Furmanite offers a comprehensive Passive Fire Protection Solution that consists of the latest and most technologically-advanced fire-rated materials; highly specialized equipment; and skilled personnel.

All of Furmanite’s fire protection solutions are based on the latest available technology and are designed to exceed expectations in terms of quality and reliability. At Furmanite, technical excellence comes standard.

Our products utilize a range of BS476-approved materials, with a fire rating up to four hours. These include penetration and expansion joint seals; cementitious, intumescent and ablative materials; RTV silicone foam; transit blocks; and protective cladding for structural steel. Firewall barriers are tested to Nuclear Electric Standard ES/TSS EX5 7080 issue 7. In addition, Furmanite is one of the few companies offering these solutions to be ISO-9001 accredited.

FurmaJet® – jet fire-rated protection jackets

Our FurmaJet jackets are designed to insulate and protect equipment from the severest of fires. They are constructed from a combination of innovative materials unique to Furmanite that provide exceptional resistance to temperature and erosion qualities similar to a jet fire. In addition, they can be quickly installed and removed without the need for specific techniques or equipment.

Like all our products, FurmaJet is rigorously tested, manufactured in accordance with strict quality control procedures, exceeds industry standards and consistently out-performs the competition. Specifically, the FurmaJet has been subjected to hydrocarbon furnace tests and jet fire flame impingement tests. In these two-hour tests, as well as many others, the FurmaJet maintained structural integrity and effective protection with low smoke emissions at temperatures exceeding 1832°F (1000°C).

Furmanite’s Fire Curtain

Furmanite’s curtain walling solution consists of lightweight, flexible fire curtains, which create excellent cavity barriers against smoke and fire. They consist of a specially coated glass fabric material that is stretched between perimeter fixing and staple jointed for maximum effectiveness.

Fire Walls

Used in both industrial and commercial environments, Furmanite’s partition and barrier solutions have been tested to withstand high impact, blast-over-pressure and seismic movement. Furmanite’s latest wall system combines a durable high specification fire safe system with quality aesthetic appearance. Furmanite wall systems have been tested to provide up to four hours of fire resistance.

Other Structures

Additionally, protection of steel work and other load-bearing structures is possible using fire-resistant materials for cladding, column and beam encasements, etc.

Pyrofend® –Advanced fire Protection For Critical Instruments & Equipment

Our newest and most innovative fire protection tool is Pyrofend – a truly state-of-the-art material used when manufacturing close-fitting, lightweight enclosures that provides the highest possible level of protection against direct flame and thermal radiation. These enclosures can be molded to fit any type of application in any type of industry, giving it a significant advantage over the rigid or blanket-style systems currently in use.

Pyrofend provides high performance fire protection for critical equipment in temperatures in excess of 1832°F (1000ºC) for periods of up to two hours. In addition, Pyrofend is totally non-toxic even in fire conditions, completely waterproof, and needs no additional mass to achieve excellent cold face temperatures since thermal energy transmission is extremely low.
