Milling
Our 2- and 3-D laser-controlled machines have been designed specifically for milling pump and motor bedplates, heat exchanger division plates, including external and internal keyways in shafts and bores, hatch covers, as well as for square flanges.
Journal Turning
Avoid tedious and time-consuming equipment strip downs by isolating the area of the plant you need to re-machine. Furmanite’s pneumatically-driven portable machines can repair worn or damaged journals of various diameters quickly and efficiently.
Drilling, Trepanning, Fine Boring and Reaming
These Furmanite service areas accommodate working sizes in excess of 6” (150mm) in diameter and 40” (1000mm) in depth. Our abilities extend to drilling operations on major structures, any type of straight or tapered reaming, drilling and tapping on steel rolling mills, and trepanning of holes in blast furnaces and pressure vessels
Pipe Cutting
Furmanite has the ability to cut pipes of any diameter and wall thickness thanks to our wide range of purpose-built internally- and externally-mounted cutting equipment. Our service offering also includes excavating and removing defective weld material. And if required, Furmanite can profile and prepare the remaining pipe or vessel ends for welding.
Line Boring

Grinding and Polishing
When you require a cost-effective on-site means of renewing the surface finishes of large diameter steel tires on rotating plants (kilns and dryers), Furmanite’s grinding and polishing services fit the bill.
Flange Facing
Furmanite’s internally- and externally-mounted machines are lightweight, strong and flexible. This state-of-the-art equipment is capable of facing, turning, grooving and weld preparation in even the most hazardous areas, and for a variety of applications.
Stud Drilling
Our capabilities include the controlled removal of broken or seized studs from turbine halfjoints, cylinder heads, vessels, etc. – without damaging the parent metal.
In addition to these specific services, Furmanite is also able to machine hub profiles, front and back faces of heat exchangers, oval manways and handholes, and sealing surfaces of pressure vessels and boilers. Finished machine surfaces can be flat, recessed, spigotted, raised, face or ring grooved, and surface finishes from fine to gramophone.
