A critical component maintaining plant productivity and profitability is by ensuring every valve
is operating at peak efficiency and meeting all safety requirements. How do you do that? Right now the only way to know if a valve needs repair is if it breaks down or to shut down the line and test each valve. Either of these options will cost you – time, productivity, money. That was then, this is now.
With the Trevitest® diagnostic recorder you now have the ability to test and identify safety and safety relief valves in need of repair with no operational interruptions. This technology gives you the means to accurately test every valve, performed in place, on line and under normal operating pressure and temperature.
Trevitest – The Standard in Test and Measurement
In addition to its ability to keep your lines up and operational, even during the testing process, what truly sets Trevitest apart from any other diagnostic recorder is its capability to measure several types of phenomena when a user is testing most steam, vapor and liquid safety and safety relief valves. The Trevitest has the ability to measure a valve’s spindle deflection (lift potentiometer) or valve discharge (acoustic detection), as well as inlet pressure (pressure transducer). This is in addition to measuring the spring relaxation force (load cell) that has been available with previous versions.
In other words, Furmanite has engineered a state-of-the-art valve test solution that enables users to measure pressure, lift or displacement, and sound via acoustic detection. It also allows users to select critical measurements of force and line pressure with amazing precision and accuracy.
With Trevitest, not only do you have a tool that is notably more powerful and dynamic than anything else available on the market, but it is remarkably lightweight and modular in design. This considerably enhances its ability to be used under variable plant conditions, as well as to integrate with other specialty diagnostic equipment required in user-specific applications.
Trevitest Hot Testing
When hot testing steam service, clean process and nuclear valves, you get a date-marked and certified printout of set pressure and the line pressure at the valve. With this information, you’re able to accurately determine the set pressure, spring adjustment and displacement of the valve. Trevitest also gives an indication of the effect of the nozzle ring, guide ring and reseat pressure.
Hot Testing Benefits
- No plant downtime required for testing
- Less time is required to commission the plant after shutdown
- Only valves that require an overhaul need to be removed from the line
- Welded-in valves can be adjusted online
- No need for temperature compensation in order to set pressure
Trevitest Cold Testing
Trevitest Cold Testing enables you to determine set pressure, spring rate and valve displacement. Cold Testing is an important component to include when pre-commissioning safety and relief valves on new plant, or when conducting workshop testing in order to give the valve a ‘fingerprint’ (immediately following the conventional bench test).
Cold Testing Benefits
- Eliminates the cost of removing valves from their location prior to commissioning new plant
- Only valves that require an overhaul need to be removed from the line
- Correct spline alignment of torsion bar safety valves significantly reduces the risk of unplanned shutdown
