Furmanite integrates with ConocoPhillips for optimum maintenance resource

Furmanite, the speciality services company geared to maximising asset uptime, has been contracted by ConocoPhillips to supply a permanent on-site core-team presence at its Humber refinery, as an extension of the operator’s current maintenance resource, providing leak sealing, Trevitest, in-situ machining, bolting, hot tapping, valve repair and composite repair services.

The wide range of specialist services Furmanite offers from a single source, delivered by its multi-disciplined technicians, enables manning and cost economies to be achieved and reduces the number of contractors required on site.

Under the contract the Furmanite on-site team will conduct regular site surveys to catch any problems at an early stage and help improve overall reliability. Moreover, by gaining an on-going knowledge of the plant as a long-term partner to the operator, Furmanite becomes able to make a proactive contribution to ConocoPhillips’ maintenance programme.

The on-site Furmanite team will also assist with forward planning for outages, as well as integrating Furmanite systems into the client’s systems so that scaffold, rigging and permit requests, for example, can be raised.

The appointment also extends ConocoPhillips’ in-house maintenance team resource, as in the event that specialist Furmanite services are not required the team will carry out general mechanical maintenance duties on-site or in the engineering workshops, including work such as general fitting and valve repair.

“Under this agreement, ConocoPhillips gains unrestricted access to our services and a rapid response engineering resource on a full-time basis, operating within the customer’s requirements and business needs, to help to provide a safer working environment, improved uptime and increased productivty,” Furmanite regional sales manager Tony Evans points out. “It is within agreements of this type that we are able to provide the optimum service by being able to take on a proactive role, to offer the client maximum benefit.”
