Think you know Furmanite? Think again!

Furmanite, the speciality services company geared to maximising asset uptime, will be at Offshore Europe this year demonstrating to the oil and gas industry that its range of services is not only applicable to on-going asset maintenance (for which it is renowned), but at front end engineering design (FEED) or construction stage too.

Furmanite will be highlighting in particular its newly-launched Pressurized Systems Integrity (PSI) Management designed to eliminate critical joint failure, as well as its Trevitest on-line valve testing and valve repair service, and SmartShim™, the innovative chocking system protecting caissons and conductors from fatigue damage.

All these services can be applied at construction stage to build in preventative measures that will result in greater asset uptime in operation and save long-term time and money.

“Our wide range of services enable us to help operators throughout the asset life cycle, from construction to operation and decommissioning,” Furmanite business development manager Mike Tucker says. “We’re well known in the oil and gas offshore sector for our on-line and on-site services representing massive cost savings by avoiding unscheduled shutdown. But many of our services, such as PSI Management, bolting services, Trevitest and on-site machining for instance, can offer similar high value at construction stage, from LNG plants to offshore rigs or subsea pipelines, helping to ensure on-schedule start-up and minimise on-going operating and maintenance costs.”

PSI Management will be highlighted at Offshore Europe as Furmanite’s latest new introduction – designed to eliminate flange leaks at critical joints where failure would cause plant shutdown, affect the process or cause danger to personnel or equipment, guaranteeing leak-free start-ups and driving down costs. Focus will also be on Trevitest and on-site valve repair, allowing valves to be tested and overhauled with minimum downtime, representing considerable savings, or valves to be fingerprinted in advance of installation and validated on-site, saving valuable time.

SmartShim™, the award-winning cast-in-situ chocking system, is designed to prevent costly damage to conductors or caissons caused when the lateral force of wave movement causes them to impact against the conductor guides, resulting in fatigue or even fracturing, and is of high value whether installed as a preventative measure at construction stage, or retrospectively in-situ offshore. Recent developments have now slashed installation time and added a high degree of control and flexibility, making the service even more efficient and valuable.

Details of these and Furmanite’s other broad range of services and the benefits they can offer oil and gas industry operators and contractors throughout asset life, including on-line leak sealing, composite repair, pipeline intervention, on-site machining and more, will be available on the Furmanite stand at Offshore Europe, number 611.
